Shopping for golf gifts can be challenging, especially if you don't play much golf yourself.
That's why in this post, I've put together a list of items that I would enjoy receiving for a birthday or holiday as a male golfer.
I've played this game competitively for over a decade and have a very good feel for what a guy may like or not like. Here is my list of golf gifts under $100 for men.
My Rankings
Best for: Overall
This type of golf shirt has become a new trend in the last few years and I love it!
Typically, golf shirts have collars, but the world of golf is evolving and many golfers have started wearing these semi-collar shirts.
I don't think you can go wrong with this one and it's my overall pick.
While Tiger Woods has been sporting these types of shirts for years, the golf world is just catching on to the trend. Comfortable and stylish, a great pick.
Best for: Classic Pick
I've worn these exact shorts for years and absolutely love them. They're super comfortable, breathable in hot weather, and last a long time. I've put these through the wash hundreds of times with no noticeable degradation of quality.
While these aren't going to make a fashion statement out there on the course, they are high-quality and traditional.
A classic golf short. Comfortable, breathable, and stylish. You can't go wrong with these.
Best for: Overall
I don't know many golfers who would pass up some free ProV1s. These are considered the best golf balls money can buy and nearly half of the PGA Tour pros use this ball.
Unless your guy is very particular about things in his life, you really can't go wrong with this choice!
The ProV1x is arguably the most popular golf ball on tour and for good reason.
Best for: For Style
Here’s the deal. A golfer can NEVER have too many golf shoes. NEVER.
If the guy you are shopping for has any sense of fashion, this is the shoe for him (under $100). I love the look of these shoes and as a golfer who has worn many Adidas golf shoes in my career, you can’t go wrong with them.
You’ll notice that these shoes don’t have spikes on the bottom. That’s okay. The “spikeless” golf shoe has gained a lot of traction recently thanks to pros like Freddy Couples, and although he won’t be able to use these on a wet golf course (not enough traction), these are a PERFECT summer shoe.
A great introductory shoe. Comfortable, good grip, and affordability from a well-known golf shoe company.
Best for: Summer Golfer
Does he play a lot of golf? Especially during summer in a hot place?
Well... He's going to need a new golf glove just about every month, and this is an excellent choice.
Just make sure you get the size right! Here's a sizing chart you can use, or you can go to his golf bag, find an old glove, and note the size down.
Made by an industry-leading brand, the FootJoy StaSof glove is a reliable choice for any golfer.
Best for: Stocking Stuffer
Yep, it sounds stupid, but this thing is AWESOME. It's for cleaning the grooves of your golf clubs between shots, which will maximize spin rates and make you a more consistent golfer.
As a competitive golfer myself, I see so many amateurs NOT cleaning their clubs adequately between shots, which I know is costing them strokes (ask any competitive golfer how important this is and you'll get the same answer).
I recommend using this brush on the course paired with some good ole' spit grease. After your round, put those clubs in the utility sink and use this brush with some dish soap and warm water. Your clubs will thank you for the much-needed warm bath.
Every golfer needs one of these. Keeping your grooves clean is important for consistency in golf and this is the best tool for the job.
Best for: The Exerciser
Let's be very clear about what this is for. This bag is called a "pencil bag" and is not meant to hold all of your golf clubs.
It is meant for someone who wants to take a few clubs to the range or course without lugging his entire bag around. It is also great for someone who primarily plays golf to get out in fresh air and walk, but doesn't like (or can't) carry a full bag of clubs.
If he likes to walk and constantly complains about being tired after the rounds, this might be a great gift!
If you walk a lot and need to lighten the load a bit, this is an excellent way to get that exercise without lugging around a 40 pound golf bag!
Best for: The Dedicated Golfer
Hear me out on this one.
The guy you are shopping for will probably not know what this is or how to use it.
Amazon gives it 4 stars.
But...
I have used this for YEARS and as a competitive golfer, swear by it. Phil Mickelson swears by it. And several college golfers I played with swear by it. Most of the bad reviews on Amazon have nothing to do with the quality or effectiveness of the product and I do not agree with the rating it is being given.
So if you give this gift, send him my full review here which explains how to use it.
If you are shopping for a guy who sincerely wants to get better at golf, THIS IS THE GIFT you need to buy.
The Putting Tutor is my FAVORITE putting aid that I used while playing D1 college golf. Also used by Phil Mickelson, this is a must-have for any serious golfer
